| Mikolai Bastecki also sent Albina images of himself and his apparent family. I have only two images of Mikolai. They leave many unanswered questions regarding his relationship to Adam and his relationship to my grandmother. |

| Mikolai Bastecki about 1912 Photographer: Unknown printed lines on the back.“I send my photograph to you in America as a remembrance. I am Mikolai Bastecki” Additional writing on the side read: “I already delivered myself [my image?]” Translated by Maria Skibniewska Mikolai appears here to be a young, good looking, hard working man. There is a kind glint in his eye. In 1912, he already looked as if he was at least 30 years of age. I would guess that he gave this picture to Albina, just before or soon after her immagration to the United States in 1912. |

| Translation: Coicia Basteckia (married) and my ??Here Mikolai appears with Ciocia and a young boy. He appears rougher, less well to do, poorer. Ciocia seems thin and unaccustomed to the camera. While iocia looks serious, Mikolai and the young boy by comparison look almost jovial. The writing and the condition of the photograph makes it difficult to decipher.
It is apparent that Mikolai must be posing with members of his family, Ciocia and the unnamed boy. The boy’s features and the very spark in his eyes imply that this could not be Adam or any of the young men on the page about Adam. This makes it very unclear how Mikolai relates to Adam. He is not present in the two group portraits on the previous page about Adam. Mikolai thoough appears older, perhaps old enough to be Adam’s father. If this is Adam’s father, than who is the young boy between Mikolai and Ciocia? |
